Supplies

 

-    Bulky or Heavy Worsted Weight Yarn, 300 yards

-    Crochet Hook, 6mm (Size J)

-    Yarn needle

-    Scissors

 

Stitch Guide

 

Chain (ch) - Insert hook in loop, yarn over (YO) and pull through

Slip stitch (sl) - Insert hook in specified stitch (st), YO and pull through st and loop on the hook     

Single crochet stitch (sc) - Insert hook in specified st, YO and pull through st, YO and pull through both loops on hook

Single crochet two together stitch (sc2tog) - Insert hook in specified sts, YO and pull through st, insert hook in next st, YO and pull through st, YO and pull through 3 loops on hook

Half double crochet stitch (hdc) - YO, insert hook in specified st, YO and pull through st, YO and pull through 3 loops on hook

Double crochet stitch (dc) - YO, insert hook in specified st, YO and pull through st, YO and pull through 2 loops on hook, YO and pull through remaining 2 loops on hook

Front post double crochet stitch (FPdc) - YO, insert hook from front to back around post of specified st to raise forward, YO and pull up around post, YO and pull through 2 loops on hook, YO and pull through remaining 2 loops on hook

Back post double crochet stitch (BPdc) - YO, insert hook from back to front around post of specified st to raise backwards, YO and pull up around post, YO and pull through 2 loops on hook, YO and pull through remaining 2 loops on hook

 

Pattern

 

Top Ribbing:

Ch 11

Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across; turn. (10 sc)

Row 2:  Ch 1, sc in back loop only in each st across; turn. (10 sc)

Row 3: Ch 1, sc in front loop only in each st across; turn. (10 sc)

Row 4-30: Repeat Row 2 and 3.

Sl st last row to first row with wrong side (WS) facing. Turn inside out so that right side (RS) is now facing.

 

Body:

Row 1: Ch 1, sc 32 evenly across edge of ribbing, join with sl st; turn. (32 sc)

Row 2: Ch 2 (counts as first dc through out pattern), dc in 2nd sc from hook and in each st across, join with sl st to top of ch 2; turn. (32 dc)

Row 3: Ch 2, dc in next st, [FPdc in next in 2 sts, dc in next 2 sts] 7x across, FPdc in last 2 sts; join with sl st to top of ch 2; turn. (32 sts - 16 FPdc and 16 dc)

Row 4: Ch 2, [BPdc in next 2 sts (FPdc of previous row), dc in next 2 sts] 7x across, BPdc in next 2 sts, dc in last st; join with sl st to top of ch 2; turn. (32 sts - 16 BPdc and 16 dc)

Row 5-19: Repeat Row 3 and 4.

 

Bottom Ribbing:

Row 1: Ch 1, hdc in next st, [sc2tog next 2 FPdc, hdc in next 2 sts] across; turn. (24 sts)

Row 2-6: Ch 1, sc in each st across; turn. (24 sc)
